I charge 2.5 cents per square inch for most designs. Some pantos are 3 cents per square inch due to the complexity of the design.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .025 = $120.
My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.
I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in 80/20 cotton/poly blend, 100% cotton, and in 100% poly. I have limited quantities of other batting types in stock, please ask for availability. I am also willing to order any special batting that you may prefer!
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.
For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
65" of 100% cotton select loft @ $0.40/in = $26.00
65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.38/in = $24.70
65" of 100% poly @ $0.30/in = $19.50
I carry a selection of high-quality threads, including Glide, Omni, and a few King Tut variegated options. There’s no additional fee for thread—it's included in the per-square-inch quilting price.
My personal approach is to match or blend the thread color with the overall tone of your quilt to create a cohesive look. That said, this is your quilt! If you have a specific thread color or type in mind, just let me know—I'm happy to accommodate your vision.
I’m based in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, and I’m happy to receive your quilt top and backing by mail.
To help protect your materials during transit, I recommend placing them inside a fabric bag or plastic sack (to guard against moisture), and then packing that inside a sturdy, hard-sided cardboard box. Be sure the box is securely taped and clearly labeled.
Return Shipping:
I’ll return your quilt via USPS Priority Mail, using flat rate shipping whenever it’s the most cost-effective option. Priority Mail includes $50 of insurance and a tracking number. If you'd like additional insurance, just let me know on your intake form—I'm happy to add it on your behalf.
While insurance isn’t required, I do recommend it for peace of mind in case of loss or damage during transit.
Seaming a back: $10 per seam
Binding:
Prepare binding: $10
Machine apply binding to one side: $0.15 per linear linch
Machine apply binding to both sides: $0.20 per linear inch
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 + 60 + 80 + 80 = 280
Binding attached to one side: 280 * $0.15 = $42
Binding attached to both sides: 280 * $0.20 = $56
As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Minnesota to collect a 8.375% sales tax on the quilting service and batting portions of an invoice if a resident of Minnesota. Fees are not subject to sales tax if outside the state of Minnesota.
After the work is complete, I will invoice you via the email provided. I really do appreciate timely payments as that enables me to mail your project(s) back to you right away.
